So wow! I just opened up my email for a quick peek, only to find out that a series of photographs of mine, just emerged as a winner from the prestigious PDN Photo Annual FACES contest, and I’m over the moon excited about it!
For those non-photographer readers out there, PDN Magazine out of New York, NY (aka Photo District News) holds annual photo competitions with submissions from all over the globe participating. The judges this year were from Billboard Magazine, ESPN, and National Geographic! Wow, right?!?
So … why enter a competition like this you ask? The idea is for the publication to provide entrants with immeasurable exposure to leading creatives in the editorial and advertising industry, and to give photographers a chance to see how they stack up against industry peers from all over.
Winners' galleries are published in PDN Magazine which is awesome! The additional print distribution goes out to influential photo editors, creative directors and art buyers looking for new and established talent. I have always thought about entering some work into one of their contests, but the competition is always … well, shall we say intimidating, and humbling, to say the least. Some of the biggest names in the photo industry have graced the winners circle in past years, and I’m thrilled to now be included in that amazing company.

… and here are some of the photographs I submitted from a recent project. The amazing faces you see below are local chefs that I photographed for a local fundraiser. The chefs donate food and their amazing culinary skills for the same fundraiser each year, to benefit the Boys & Girls Club of America.
